Pine bark extract is sustainably sourced from the pine bark of the Mediterranean region. This extract contains high levels of phytochemicals aimed at combating free radicals.
The Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin Complex (OPC), also known as Oligomeric Proanthocyanin Complex, is a plant-based complex found in grape seeds and skin, as well as maritime pine bark. Proanthocyanidins are flavonoids present in plants and classified as polyphenols. The EnergyBalance® nutritional supplement "OPC" with maritime pine bark extract (Pinus pinaster) has an OPC concentration of 90% (i.e., it is standardized to 90% proanthocyanidins). Oligomeric proanthocyanidins are primarily composed of oligomeric catechin dimers or trimers and naturally provide protective and antioxidant action against free radicals. Each capsule contains 75 mg and provides 67.5 mg of OPC. The recommended daily dose is 2 capsules (135 mg OPC). To learn more about proanthocyanidins, consult Wikipedia.
