At the beginning of the 20th century, silver was intensively studied by numerous scientists and recognized as a proven remedy. Esteemed journals such as Lancet, Journal of the American Medical Association, and the British Medical Journal published articles about the wonderful properties of colloidal silver.

What exactly is colloidal silver?
Scientifically speaking, a colloidal system is said to exist when three conditions are met:
 There must be different components present, such as silver and water.
 The components must belong to different phases, such as liquid/solid or gas/liquid.
 The particles must not be soluble.

Therefore, colloids are heterogeneous, multiphase, and insoluble. Colloidal particles are the smallest units into which matter can be divided without losing individual properties. The next level of subdivision would be the atom itself. The particle size typically ranges between 10–7 and 10–9 nm (1 nm = 0.000'000'001 m). A single colloidal particle corresponds to approximately an aggregation of 103 to 109 atoms. This equates to a size of 1-10 nm. As a comparison, consider a red blood cell with 7.5 µm (7.5 µm = 7500 nm). This means that a red blood cell is approximately 750 times larger than a colloidal particle.

These particles are suspended in distilled water and carry an electrical charge. Since like charges repel, they keep each other in suspension. Colloids play a very important role in nature – without them, there would be no life! All life processes in a cell, the building blocks of living organisms, are based on colloidal states. Rather than through a rigid definition, which could only be very imprecise, the term "colloid" can be explained using familiar examples of colloidal systems: milk, mayonnaise, cosmetics (also called emulsions, namely droplets in liquid); whipped cream (gas in liquid); butter (droplets in solid); smoke (particles in gas); mist (droplets in gas). Other examples of colloids include freshly squeezed orange juice, detergent, film coating, as well as smoke or mist. Not to forget blood and lymph, which are also in colloidal states.

Moreover, the possibility of penetrating the body and reaching even remote locations is greatly improved. Silver colloids are particularly interesting because the precious metal silver is the best natural electrical conductor," write Werner Kühni and Walter von Holst.

What does 20 ppm mean?
This is the concentration of atomic silver particles. It is given in ppm (parts per million). This means that 20 active substance parts (silver) are present in 1 million solvent parts (distilled water). Or: 20 silver parts to 1,000,000 water parts, equivalent to 20 mg per liter.
