Alpha, gamma & delta tocotrienole and alpha tocopherol
Almost all vitamin E supplements, whether synthetic or natural, only contain the alpha form of tocopherol. A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, however, recommends taking at least 20% of vitamin E nutritional supplements in the form of tocopherol. This product contains 4 different tocopherols - d-alpha, d-beta, d-gamma and d-delta - and the natural vitamin E alpha tocopherol. This product is also made from organically certified, environmentally friendly palm oil.
Tocotrienoles provide better protection from free radicals
In terms of their chemistry, the only difference between tocotrienoles and vitamin E tocopherols are their side chains. While the side chains of vitamin E tocopherols are completely saturated, tocotrienoles have an unsaturated side chain with three double bonds. These unsaturated double bonds mean that tocotrienoles provide considerably more protection than tocopherols. Tocotrienole is more agile so that it can move and twist inside the cell membrane and even penetrate the cell membrane to enter other cells. This is extremely beneficial to the human body because tocotrienole is able to protect the space around different cell membranes.
Compared to alpha tocopherol, for example, alpha tocotrienole is 40 to 60 times more effective as an antioxidant. In the last 10 years, an increasing number of scientific studies have been reporting on the health-promoting properties of tocotrienoles that are not found in tocopherols. These properties are antiproliferative, neuroprotective, lower cholesterol and are anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory.
Tocotrienoles for the heart/circulatory system and to lower cholesterol
Tocotrienoles can reduce cholesterol levels by affecting the HMG Co-A liver enzyme. That means they have an effect similar to that of many prescription cholesterol reduction medications, or statins, and tocotrienoles have additional benefits in the form of vitamin E. Researchers in Madrid recently confirmed the ability of tocotrienoles to lower cholesterol. However, it only worked on the majority of subjects tested.
Tocotrienoles protect the skin
Wrinkles are formed when the skin doesn't have enough collagen. When the skin contains enough collagen, the wrinkles go away and the skin becomes smooth. The antioxidant tocotrienole, which can neutralize free radicals, is an effective remedy against aging skin, best taken before wrinkles start to form. The special vitamin E in the form of tocotrienole is particularly effective here. Tocotrienoles are especially active in the skin cells and can effectively penetrate the skin as well.
