Magnesium in the body
Depending on body weight, a human body contains about 20-28g of magnesium. Around 60% are found in skeletal and teeth. Another 35% are localized intracellularly, particularly in the muscles.
After potassium, magnesium is the most important intracellular cation in the human body. It does therefore in many enzymatic processes, especially in energy transfer, as a cofactor an important role. Magnesium controls the enzymatic processes in carbohydrate and protein metabolism.
As essential cofactor Magnesium is involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions
- Magnesium is a component of bones and teeth.
- Is essential for the normal muscle function and energy metabolism.
- Plays important role in the energy metabolism, skeletal structure in the transmission of impulses in the nervous system in muscle contraction.
Magnesium is responsible for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. Known are positive characteristics with cardiovascular, bone conservation, energy metabolism and psyche. In addition, researchers are now focusing intensively on the context of magnesium and their cognitive functions.
Magnesium in the brain
Unfortunately, it is very difficult for the body to obtain optimal levels of magnesium in the brain. This issue is particularly important for older people, because magnesium deficiency increases significantly later in life.
Most commercially available magnesium supplements are not well absorbed in the nervous system. To overcome this obstacle, L-Threonate Magnesium was developed to specifically counteract the aging process of the brain and nervous system.
In preclinical studies, unlike conventional magnesium supplements L-Threonate has delivered the impressive results.
